Kate Huber joined IPNW in 2016. As Staff Attorney and Litigation Coordinator, Kate evaluates, investigates, and litigates individual post-conviction cases, as well as oversees the work of IPNW volunteers and pro bono partners. Kate presents CLE trainings for pro bono partners in the community and works to expand IPNW’s litigation efforts beyond the in-house legal staff. A graduate of the University of Minnesota and New York University School of Law, Kate began her career with clerkships for The Honorable Robert P. Patterson, Jr., of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, and for The Honorable Rosemary S. Pooler of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Following her federal clerkships, Kate worked as a staff attorney for The Legal Aid Society, Criminal Defense Division, in New York County. In her fourteen years as a public defender, Kate represented thousands of clients and litigated every stage of their cases, from the initial arraignment through the final resolution. Kate brings a deep understanding of criminal defense work and extensive litigation experience to her innocence advocacy with IPNW.
